Opportunities and Risks for Major Industry Projects in Peatland Landscapes Across Canada. This project includes an expert assessment of mitigation options and factors – carbon and climate, water resources, biodiversity – to consider for decision-making for mines, roads, and other industrial developments.

Floating Roads on Peatlands: An Evidence Review. This work informs the above project on practical mitigation options and solutions for water- and climate-smart construction of major industry projects in peatlands.

Priorities for Peatland Governance and Stewardship in Canada. A new rapid evidence assessment of peatland governance and policy in Canada in partnership with government policy- and decision-makers and others, for a peer-review publication and jurisdiction-specific policy briefs. This work supports the ongoing provision of expert peatland science and policy advice to governments across Canada on effective and meaningful policy implementation.

Co-author on two UK Government commissioned and IUCN UK Peatland Program led evidence reviews for peatland policy: 1) Peat depth and biogeochemical functioning, and 2) Climate change impacts on peatlands.

Expert analysis and interpretation of 10 years of NEE data (net ecosystem CO2 exchange) for fen peatlands in northern Ontario, in collaboration with government researchers and other partners.

Providing specialist research expertise to government, NGO, and industry partners on the analysis of hydrology, vegetation, and carbon data (including carbon dioxide and methane fluxes) for peatlands and other wetlands across Canada, including northern Ontario, northern Alberta, and the Northwest Territories.
